Lighthouse Deaf Fellowship

In the summer of 1981, we began our church by meeting together in our different homes in Toronto, Ontario. On October 15, 1985, the church was incorporated as: “Silent Christian Service Centre.” On October 15, 1991, the church was renamed “Lighthouse Deaf Fellowship (L.D.F.), which is now affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC).

The congregation voted to change its name of two reasons:

  • Lighthouse
  • Deaf

Lighthouse

A lighthouse is located on high point on land near the ocean or the sea. It shines a strong light into
the darkness. Ships follow the light and find a safe route along the coast.

Jesus is the “Light of the World.” He is located in our hearts because we have invited Jesus to be
our Lord and Savior. We are His lighthouse. He shines His strong light through us to guide other
people to Him.

Deaf

Our understanding and knowledge of Deaf culture is always increasing. Our purpose in our DEAF community is to encourage our identity and communicate using ASL (American Sign Language). We also meet accessibility needs for the deaf, deafened, hard-of-hearing, and deafblind.
